The Plain Wren (Cantorchilus modestus) is a species of bird in the Troglodytidae family. It is found in Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
The subspecies zeledoni of eastern Nicaragua, eastern Costa Rica and north-west Panama is sometimes considered to be a separate species, Canebrake Wren.
